To have great-looking floors, you need to maintain a cleaning regimen that is suited for the type of floor you have. This is important so that you will not damage your hardwood floors. There are actually non water-based commercial hardwood cleaners that efficiently remove stains. For everyday cleaning of dust and other particles, a broom or a vacuum will do. After buffing, it is now time to apply the wax or the polish. It is best to use paste wax because they last longer. In addition, your hardwood floors will readily have that beautiful shine typical of new and polished timber floors. However, paste wax is more difficult to remove compared to other types of finish. For optimal results, it is better to wax manually than using a machine. Just make sure the floor is clean and dry before polishing your timber floors.  As to the number of times you have to polish your floor, it all depends on the kind of hardwood you have, its age and the traffic it receives. The general rule is once every year but you can go for twice especially if you are having your polished timber floors in an office environment.
