Timber Floor Repairs For Your Parquetry Flooring

Parquetry flooring is ideal for places with very low temperatures because these timber floorboards have excellent thermal attributes. However, a parquetry floor needs special car using a moist mop or rug. Make sure you squeeze the water from your mop or rug because water dripping on your parquetry floors can cause a lot of damage. The wooden floor boards can expand or warp with too much moisture. If this is the case, then you need to start your timber floor repairs to have that perfect timber floors.

You begin the process by first removing the damaged timber by using a scrapper or carpenter’s knife. You would need to clean the old glue marks underneath the boards so that it is ready for re-gluing your new timber floor. If the floor is wet under your damaged boards, it is imperative that you let it dry for at least 24 hours. Once you are ready for your timber floor installation to replace the damaged areas, make sure that your pieces are accurately measured. Sanding floors is necessary before any timber floor repairs.
 
The common tool in repairing timber floors is a comb-like spreader, which is used in applying glue to the timber boards. Fixing your parquetry floor pieces should be done on a dry masonry or concrete floor. You will need to use a mallet to lay the pieces but use with care so that your timber products will no get any marks on them. You can take off the extra glue by using a sanding paper. You need to rub your sanding paper on the repaired area and then bring a sack of sand on the sides of the board to keep it flat.

You can have a timber floor finish made of polyurethane that will look like the original one. Timber floor finishes can be glossy or matte and should be applied in three coatings. When you apply the first two coats, make sure they are six hours apart. The third application should be done on the next day. When your floor is completely dry, you can now apply a timber floor polishing wax to attain that smooth varnish shade. You have now completed the basis steps in your timber floor repairs.
